Studied a BA in Applied Language Studies (French and German), graduating with Double Honours. Worked in several international companies such as Symantec, BNP Paribas and Hewlett Packard with the remit of international financial control. Came to VG in 2006 after studying TEFL. I’ve been teaching general and business English, also preparing students for Trinity and Cambridge exams, as well as helping kids to speak better English than their parents!

Why I’m an English Coach:

Primarily, I love languages, especially English! Succeeding in communication and seeing people improve and gaining confidence gives everyone involved a great deal of satisfaction.

Advice to learners:

You’re not learning English to help me, you’re doing it to help yourselves. Our mistakes can help us to get better.

Favourite quote:

“The English language is like London: proudly barbaric yet deeply civilised, too, common yet royal, vulgar yet processional, sacred yet profane. Each sentence we produce, whether we know it or not, is a mongrel mouthful of Chaucerian, Shakespearean, Miltonic, Johnsonian, Dickensian and American. Military, naval, legal, corporate, criminal, jazz, rap and ghetto discourses are mingled at every turn. The French language, like Paris, has attempted, through its Academy, to retain its purity, to fight the advancing tides of Franglais and international prefabrication. English, by comparison, is a shameless whore.” Stephen Fry

My favourite songs:

1. I Am The Resurrection – The Stone Roses
2. If She Wants Me – Belle and Sebastian
3. Shimmy, Shimmy Y’All – Ol’ Dirty Bastard
